I believe the bird is an immature sharp-shinned hawk.

The stream line body tells me that this is an accipiter not a buteo. The hawk has a small rounded head not a flat top which eliminates a Cooper's hawk. There is no distinct white eyebrow and the overall "dainty appearance of the hawk eliminates northern goshawk. The bill appears to have a "dainty" appearance in relation to the head. The vertical dark streaks lead down to rufus leg feathers which you find more on sharp-shins than other accipiters. S. S. Minneapolis, MN
